Hockey Day in Hanover Update
Submitted By Dawn Fitzsimmons on Thursday, December 08, 2011
Hanover Minor Hockey is pleased to announce further details involving our upcoming Hockey Day in Hanover event, which will be held on Saturday, January 7th. Admission is only $2.00 per person for the entire day. Hockey players are free. Below are some of the things you'll be able to see and do that day!

GREY-BRUCE CHILI COOK-OFF

We will be hosting the 1st ever Grey-Bruce Chili Cook-off, which will allow people to sample many different Chili's from a wide variety of local restaurants and service clubs for a minimal cost. You will also be able to vote on your favourite Chili. This will be held upstairs in the Lions Den from 11am to 3pm. The winner will get the title of Grey-Bruce Chili Cook-off Champion. There will also be a People's Choice award for your favourite. If you know someone who you think might like to have a booth and compete for the title, have them contact me for further details.

MOVIE ROOM FUN

Hanover Minor Hockey will have a Movie Room upstairs from 12 noon to 6pm, where kids can go and watch any of three movies that we will be playing that day. It is free to enter for all. Popcorn and pop will be available for sale to anyone who wishes to have some.

BILL MURDOCH'S PRIVATE AUTOGRAPHED JERSEY COLLECTION

Former Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Bill Murdoch has agreed to bring to Hockey Day In Hanover a large portion of his massive collection of autographed hockey jerseys. Many of them are very unique and it will be a huge treat to see them. He has one of the largest private jersey collections in North America.

The Area's Emergency Providers take on 94.5 the Bull Personalities Hockey Game

A team represented by local police, fire, ambulance and doctors will lace them up to square off against the 94.5 Bull Tryhards team. Admission to this game is included in your admission cost. This should be a very fun game to watch! It will be from 1pm to 2:30pm on Hockey Day.

DICKIE BIRD

Hugely popular local entertainer "Dickie Bird" will be on hand for a portion of the day and will have several shows for the young kids to enjoy. He was a smash hit at the last Hockey Day and we are pleased to have him back.

Owen Sound Attack's Cubby

We are hopeful that Owen Sound Attack Mascot Cubby will be able to attend to great the kids and get photos taken with them.

SILENT AUCTION

Hanover Minor Hockey in co-operation with Lasting Memories Locker Room will have a nice offering of sports related items in a Silent Auction that will be held that day.

ALL DAY 50/50 DRAW

We will conduct an all day 50/50 Draw, which will have a sizable amount going to the winner!

WE STILL NEED VOLUNTEERS!!!!

Events of this size require a significant number of volunteers. We don't have near enough at the present time. If you can volunteer for the day and require your volunteer hours, they will be looked after for this season. Others who already have their volunteer hours, we still could use your help, even for a 3 or 4 hour shift would help us out greatly. Email me at president@hanoverminorhockey.ca if you think you could help.
