Hanover came right back only 10 seconds later, when Howie potted his second of the period to give Hanover a 2-1 edge after one.
In the second frame, Hanover got two unanswered goals from captain Kyler Knoll and Matthew Howie, with assists going to Dylan Freiburger and Ridge Patterson.
In the third, Hanover took a 4-1 lead on a breakaway goal by Howie, unassisted. Then Wingham came storming back with two goals within 1:02 of each other to make it 4-3. Hanover dug deep and rallied to win the period and the game with three late goals by Matthew Howie, with assists going to Dylan Freiburger, Dustin Leask, Shay Chittick and Brook Bross.
