Falcons Take Down Listowel
Submitted By Caroline Breen on Saturday, March 06, 2010
The Hanover Pharmasave Novice LL took on Listowel for the second time in their play-off run.  The Falcons had to be on the top of their game, as Listowel came out strong and were hungry for a win.

The first period was a hard fought battle between these two teams.  Hanover came close on several scoring opportunities created by the forward lines of Blake Walters, Cam Rourke, Adam Knoll, Dale Leroux, Ryan Colquhoun, Keifer Teeple and Christian VanDepoll, but the Falcons couldn't capitalize.  The first period ended scoreless.  The action continued through the second period until late in the period when Dawson Gilkinson picked up the puck in the defensive zone and charged through the Listowel players until he was stopped in front of the net where Ryan Colquhoun took over and banged home his own rebound.  Hanover continued to apply pressure and early in the third, Christian VanDepoll dug the puck out of the corner and feathered a pass to Dale Leroux who beat the Listowel goaltender to the bottom corner.  Down 2 goals, Listowel pushed hard towards the Hanover net, but the defensive unit of Dawson Gilkinson, Nathan Oelschlagel, Brody Weber and Luke Breen continued to move the puck away from the net and into the corners while goaltender Caden Prues shut the door on the shots that did find their way to the net.  Final score Hanover 2, Listowel 0.  Another great play-off win.  Great work everyone!
