Hanover Novice Rep Head to Harriston Tournament
Hanover battled in game 1 against Minto at
8:00 in the morning. Just 2 minutes into
the game, Minto puts up a marker, then 1 minute later scores again. This did not discourage our players who
fought hard to try to reach them. The
second period saw end-to-end play with no advancement from either team. Our 3 member defense team fought hard to
change the game around but were running out of time with Nathan Ahrens going
end-to-end several times to try to change it around. The third period saw two more goals scored by
Minto.
Final score was 4 - 0 Minto.
Not willing to accept defeat, they were ready for their second game against Shallow Lake. First period saw a lot of end-to-end action. Halfway through the first period, Josh Lorenz makes the rush and puts our first marker on the board. The second period saw Adam Knoll sink our second goal of the day from a beautiful pass from Nate Johnston. With the score only 2 - 0, our reliable 3 man defense team were forced to kill two penalties. Dawson Fahrer, Nathan Ahrens and Tyler Freiburger held off the opposition until they were able to have their players all back on the ice. Once a full team on board, Adam Knoll broke through and passed to Tyson Lina who buried it.
Final score 3 - 0 Hanover.
The boys were up for a hard battle in the final game to try to win the consolation title against Mount Forest who has proven to be our strongest competitor to this point. Mount Forest started the scoring off in the first period making it 1 - 0. Again, our defense were pulling out everything to try to battle against these boys. The second period saw no score from either side. The third period proved to be too much for our weary 8 skaters. Mount Forest scored two more making the final score 3 - 0 Mount Forest.
