The Hanover Canadian Tire Atoms played 4 games over the Christmas break, and are excited to have won 3 and lost 1 that could have gone either way.
They started with a game against Kincardine on Dec 19th, and showed lots of speed & heart, as they skated to a 10-1 victory. Goals for Hanover scored by Kyler Knoll (4), Daven Rourke (3), Hunter Sargeant (2) and Andrew Price (1), with assists going to Lucas Dietz (3), Cole Mitchell (3), Devon Sargeant (2), Matthew Oelschlagel (2) and Brook Bross (1). Great play on the blue line from Maria Scales & AP Nathan Oelschlagel, and good goal tending from Aaron Price & Shaymus Finlay. On Dec 21 the Falcons faced a really good Walkerton team, who has only lost once this season, and who we had tied earlier in the year. The Canadian Tire Atoms did their very best, and the game was really close with lots of end to end action, but ended in a 3-2 loss. Shaymus Finlay was great in net, and Hanover's 2 goals were scored by captain Kyler Knoll. Unfortunately the refs didn't record any assists, but the entire team should be proud of their effort. Two nights later on Dec 23, the Falcons travelled to Ripley, and got themselves back in the win column, with a 4-1 victory. Goals scored by Rourke (2), Knoll and Bross. Assists to D.Sargeant (2), Bross, Dietz and Knoll. Aaron Price made many great saves for his team, and might have secured his second shut out if we hadn't relaxed a little too much in the dying minutes of the game. On Dec 29, the Falcons faced Normanby, in what was to be a very exciting and close game. Both teams had lots of scoring chances, and both goalies made many outstanding saves. The Canadian Tire Atoms though managed to squeak out the 2-1 victory over a much improved Normanby team. Goals for Hanover scored by Rourke and Bross. Assists to Knoll (2), D.Sargeant & Dietz. Good goaltending by Finlay, and awesome play from each and every member of the team. We look forward to facing Mildmay on Jan 4.
