As playoff season starts to kick in full swing, its a good time to reflect on what the game of hockey means to us as parents and especially what it means for the kids. It's easy to get wrapped up in the game and get emotionally invested in the outcome of the score, however, we all need to remember why we love the sport and more importantly why our kids play hockey in the first place.
"The Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) is launching a video series under the ‘Respect in Hockey’ campaign to re-emphasize the importance of core OMHA values. By committing to fairness, integrity and mutual respect, these standards will continue to be held in the highest regard."
These are morals that align with the Hanover Minor Hockey mission & values and we will continue to emphasize with our association members.

We can all make minor hockey more enjoyable by trying to remember that the timekeepers, scorekeepers, coaches, trainers, managers, board members are all VOLUNTEERS. That the referees do their job because they enjoy it and that they are doing their job to the best of their ability. Most importantly, that our kids play hockey because it is FUN, they get to play with their FRIENDS and they enjoy being part of a TEAM. Win or lose, those three things will not change.
Good luck to everyone with the rest of their season, we hope that it is a safe and enjoyable experience for all.
