The preliminary WOAA playoff rounds for the Rep and Local League teams have begun to wrap up. Hanover will be well represented in this year's WOAA Championship Finals with 6 teams that have already clinched a berth into their respective WOAA Finals and 3 teams still battling with the possibility of advancing.
Teams still battling or waiting on results:
Atom LL2 - Going 5-3-0 in the Silver East Division, Atom LL2 sits in a 3 way tie with Listowel 1 Black and South Bruce, all at 10 points a piece. South Bruce still has one game remaining in their Home and Home with West Grey 2, where a South Bruce win would break the stalemate, but a South Bruce loss would defer to the WOAA local league tie breaker rules, where head to head contests, then points per period, then penalty minutes dictate the fate of the tied teams.
Bantam LL - The Bantams currently sit 2 points back of Saugeen Shores 1, but still have a game in hand. A win this Sunday in Walkerton would force a tie breaker game with Saugeen Shores 1 and the winner would advance to the Bantam White WOAA Final. If they can force the tie breaker, the Hanover Bantams would gain home ice advantage over Saugeen Shores 1 .
Midgett LL - With two games left to play, and currently sitting 4 points back from TCDMHA in the Maroon North Division, the Midgets find themselves in a must win situation for their upcoming games against TCDMHA and Saugeen Shores. Two wins would force a tie breaker formula with TCDMHA, the winner moving onto the Midget Maroon WOAA Finals.
Teams that have clinched a WOAA Finals berth:
Novice LL1 - Going 4-1-1 and accumulating 9 points, the Novice LL1 team has advanced to the Novice White WOAA Final where they will play Blyth Brussels with the Championship title on the line.
Novice LL2 - The Novice LL2 team dominated the Silver East division with an impressive 5-1-0 record, earning them a spot in the Silver Finals. Their opponent has yet to be determined.
Novice Rep - The Novice Reps bounced back from a tough loss in round 1 of their Twolan Division series to Saugeen Shores and have secured a place in the Twolan Division Consolation Finals against the BCH Icedogs.
Atom LL1 - The Atom LL1 team is off to a great playoff start, going undefeated through their Maroon East Division and clinching a berth in the Novice Maroon WOAA Finals. Their opponent has yet to be determined.
Atom Rep - After winning the WOAA Atom CC Championship title against BCH, the Atom Reps lost to a tough Ilderton team in the OMHA CC Semi-Finals. The Atoms now look to earn their second WOAA title of the season when they face TCDMHA in the Atom WOAA Gregg Division Finals.
Midget Rep - The Midget Reps won their first OMHA series against Mount Forest, but were defeated in the second round by a tough Goderich team. The Midgets re-focused their energy on the Midget WOAA Gregg Division Playoffs. After the conclusion of the round robin series, Hanover and TCDMHA were tied for points, which caused a tie breaking game to be played. Hanover defeated TCDMHA by a score of 2-0 on home ice to advance to the Midget WOAA Gregg Division Finals against Lucknow.
Hanover Minor Hockey is proud of all of our teams this season. They have represented the association well. Good luck on the rest of the season for the teams mentioned above.
