2020-2021 Hockey season
Submitted By Krista LeSauvage on Monday, January 25, 2021
Hanover Minor Hockey Association (HMH) would like to thank all of the families that participated in the 2020-2021 hockey season.  Your dedication and support during this challenging season has made all of the extra work and effort feel worth it to the HMH board.  As I’m sure many of you have heard, the P&H Centre will be removing the ice to support a COVID vaccination center.  The option of purchasing ice time in Ayton is no longer an option as they will also be taking out their ice, which has made the decision to end the season our only option

In order to tie up loose ends that are lingering, please review the details below to determine how you can help to wrap up our season.

VOLUNTEER HOURS

Please submit your volunteer hours form to your team manager.  We would like to complete refunds as quickly as possible, however we will not be able to do this until we have this information.  Once managers have the volunteer sheets for their team, please submit this information to Erich Warner, the Parent Rep.  You can contact Erich through the email link on our website page.

JERSEYS

Please make arrangements to get your child’s jersey to your team manager.  Team Managers have been contacted by HMH and arrangements are being made for a one-time drop off in the parking lot of the P&H Centre.  Further particulars will be sent to the Team Managers, who will reach out to their team with further details.  If you have questions, contact your Team Manager.  Please note that jerseys need to be returned PRIOR to any refunds being processed.

RAFFLE TICKETS

We will be completing the raffle as planned.  Please carry on with selling your tickets.  Arrangements are being made to set up a drop box for ticket stubs at Sweet Pea Clothing, located at 406 10th St. in Hanover, during business hours once the stay at home order has been lifted.  Once the box is in place, a notice will be posted on social media and on our website.  The Raffle will be drawn in the P&H Center parking lot on the official draw date of March 29, 2021 at 6:00pm.

REFUNDS

Refunds will be processed once all of the above loose ends have been taken care of.  The calculation for determining refunds is as follows:

Total Registration Fee / 5 months x 2 months = refund amount

§  Total Registration Fee = the amount you paid for your child to play for the 2020-2021 season

§  5 months = October, November, December, January, February (the expected “2020-2021 season”)

§  2 months = January and February 2021

HMH will be refunding each family for two months of the Total Registration Fee.  A point to keep in mind is that teams this year were smaller than usual and had an average of 3 extra ice times per month than what they would typically have in other seasons.  Ice costs while we were using Ayton and Durham areans were also over $30 more per ice time.  Unfortunately HMH will be taking a loss on ice purchased this season, despite the shortened season.

Most families have paid both installments of their Total Registration Fee and we thank you for making this payment, even during such uncertain times.  Families that have not paid the second installment payment, will likely have an outstanding balance that will need to be settled.  This balance can be taken from your volunteer payment if you have completed your volunteer obligation.  If you are bench staff and have not made a volunteer hours payment, please reach out to the Registration Coordinator to settle any outstanding balances that are owing.  Any outstanding balances need to be settled this season and may impact your child’s ability to play in the 2021-2022 season.  HMH recognizes that during this difficult time, there may be extenuating circumstances that need to be considered with respect to outstanding balances owed by families.  We will consider any request received on a case by case basis.  Please note all information provided will be treated confidential.  Please contact the Registration Coordinator with any requests.  If you paid with a visa your refund will be credited to the credit card that you used to pay.  If you paid by cheque we will issue you a cheque for the refunded amount.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding any of the above information, please reach out any HMH board so that we can clarify or assist in making accommodations for your family.
