Hanover PeeWee's Win the Trophy !!
Submitted By J.harbinson on Wednesday, February 13, 2008
It took an extra game in a best of five game - six series to take the win, and the wind, from Mount Forest but the Hanover club easily succeeded on their ice .   Following a blazing win a week ago, again on Mount Forest ice Hanover took the fourth game with a 4 - 1 victory.  However the tables turned on the Hanover Boom's Canadiens Saturday on Home ice to lose to the Mount Forest club 3 to 1.  This loss on Saturday tied the points in the series five all.  A sixth game had to be scheduled to break this tie. On a typical blustery February night the Hanover parents, reluctantly, traveled the snow packed roads to Mount Forest.  Their efforts and the efforts of their hockey players did not go unrewarded.

Following a scoreless first period, Hanover's Jake Colquhoun over to Kyle Schuknecht set Daniel Miller up for the first goal of the hockey game 5:33 into the second.  Shortley there after, Schuknecht assisted by Robert Protamanni and Jake Breutigam put the second goal past the Mount Forest net minder.   However, Mount Forest quickly replied with an unassisted  goal from Kevin O'Neill with just 1:58 left in the second period.  Again, Hanover's defense were on the line the whole time, Jackson Traverse, Cole Howie, Malcolm Barrie and Colquhoun did their job the way they have been trained.

Hanover quickly picked up the pace of the game, they were determined to win this game and not let any more past them. In net for the Falcons was Mackenzie Klages.   Luke Edginton and Eric Zettler were able net the next two goals early in the third period, assists go Schuknecht and Jeremy Harbinson and Colquihoun.  It is amazing how even though Christmas is long gone, the gifts keep on coming to the PeeWees as they easily win 4-1.

With this preliminary series finally completed, the Hanover PeeWee Falcons will move into the Quarter Finals in the OMHA Series to aim for the Elmer McFadden Trophy.
In all the glory of a snowy night, rIght now the team can enjoy the new hardware for the trophy case in the coliseum.  This was a great team effort by all the players and the coaching staff.  Well done Coaches Traverse, Klages and Colquhoun, this is a time to enjoy our many gifts before the next set of challenges are at our door step.
