WOAA Cruickshank Division Champions
Submitted By D.schaus on Sunday, March 30, 2008
The Hanover Pharmasave Atom Rep Team won the Cruickshank Division Championship Title this past weekend with a convincing 4-0 victory over the visiting Mitchell Meteors.

The Team advanced to the Championship series with a record of 5-1-1 in the Round Robin portion which gave them the number one seed going into the Semi final match up against Minto who they swept in 2 straight games to advance to the finals vs. Mitchell.
The team traveled to Mitchell for Game #1 of the best of 3 finals on Tuesday March 18. The game started out slowly for the Hanover squad as Mitchell would come out fast and score very early in the first period. Down 1-0 with one minute to play in the first period Kody Hammel would score on a pass from Riley Schaus to tie the game at the end of one period of play. The Mitchell boys came out again in the second period scoring 2 quick goals to put the visiting team down 3-1. The momentum of the period would then turn to the visiting squad as Tanner Walden scored with assists going to Matthew Howie and Colin Zettler. That would bring on the comeback as Noah Bennett would score with the assist going to Schaus to even the score at 3-3. With under 2 minutes to go in the 2nd period Bennett would score again unassisted to give the Hanover team the first lead of the game. The Hanover Atom's came out in the third period with more to prove as Schaus scored early with assists going to Devin Perdue and Bennett. That goal would prove to be the winner as Mitchell would only score one more time before Hanover responded twice with goals from Peyton Koebel and Darren Lyons both unassisted. The 7-4 victory proved to be a nice birthday present for coach Jeff Walden.
With the series lead and game #2 back in Hanover on Friday March 28, the Hanover team was looking to end the series.
Mitchell would again come out strong fighting for their season but the Hanover team was a determined bunch of boys on this night as they weren't going to be denied. Noah Bennet would start the scoring late in the 1st period with the assist going to Kody Hammell. The score would remain 1-0 until the 3rd period when Tanner Walden assisted by Peyton Koebel would give the home team a 2-0 lead. Goalie Dakota Price would do what he has done all season keeping the visting team at bay as Bennett would respond with 2 more goals for the Hat Trick assists going to Koebel and Colin Speilmacher. The game would end 4-0 and give Price his shut out and clinch the Division Championship.
The Pharmasave Atom Rep team would like to thank their sponsor (Laurie and Garth Hopkins), family and friends and Most of all the coaching staff who dedicated all their time over this past season. With out all the encouragement and support from all these people the season would have not been the same.
Congratulations to the Hanover Atom Reps!!
