After a great run in playoffs, the Hanover Atom LL team is finished for another year. Claiming first place on the White Side in the Central South Divison. They would go on to play Drayton for championship.
The Atom LL Falcons would post a 7-4-1 record in the post season. There was lots of exciting playoff action. They would start March on a winning note beating Howick 5-4.Howick would open the scoring but Hanover would take the lead with two quick goals by Domonic Rogers assisted by Austin Culver, Chase Blackburn and Alex Pendergast. Howick would score early in the second to tie the game, Hanover answered with a goal by Rogers, assisted by Culver and Quintin Graydon. A goal by Cole Miller of Howick would tie the game at three. Scoring for Hanover early in the third was Culver assisted by Quinton Steward. But the fight was not over from Howick as they would add another to send us into overtime. Jacob Hope would get the winning goal. Between the pipes for Hanover was Ben Klages.
Howick would visit us at home two days later, hungry for a win. The Falcons would defeat them 5-2. Scoring for Hanover was Quintin Graydon, Stevie Cannon and Culver (3), assists would go to Hope (2), Rogers (2), and Pendergast (2). Great work in net from Klages.
Hanover lost there next couple games to Ayton 7-4 and Wingham 5-1. Still lots of exciting hockey played as teams turned up the pressure to earn the number one spot on the White Side in the Central South Division. Quinton Steward would score his first goal of the year with a nice hard shot from the blue line. Also scoring in these games were Hope (2), Rogers, and Culver. Assists went to Pendergast (3), Steward and Rogers. The Falcons would earn bragging rights as they became the White Finalists finishing first overall in the round robin for their division. Way to go boys. This couldn't have been done without excellent goaltending by Ben Dunlop and Ben Klages. Excellent defence by Marcus Meyer, Chase Blackburn, Steward and Pendergast. Great plays by the forwards Rogers, Graydon, Culver, Hope, Matt Schierz, and Stevie Cannon.
Finishing first would mean Hanover would face a new opponent Drayton. They proved challenging for the Falcons. Drayton would travel to Hanover on March 18th and leave with a 7-3 victory. Hanover would have plenty of opportunity, even scoring first but Drayton's goalie Nathan Reid would play a solid game. Scoring for Hanover was Hope, Rogers and Culver with assists going to Graydon, Rogers and Hope. The series would end with a second game in Drayton defeating Hanover 8-2. Drayton would take an early lead and never look back. Hanover fought to the end with two third period goals by Stevie Cannon and Rogers. Great play by all. Congrats to both teams on a job well done.
