PeeWee Reps Split The Weekend
Submitted By Peter Kritz on Tuesday, December 21, 2010
A great weekend of Hockey for the peeWee Reps.

Saturday and Sunday the 18th and 19th of December saw our Falcons playing 2 of the tougher opponents in the league.  Coach Kritz was hoping for a better result at home against the Saugeen Shores crew however the final score ended up 5-2 for the opposition.

The team had some chances and played pretty well at times however it was just one of those games where the bounces went the wrong way and the legs just did not have as much drive as they needed.   Scoring for Hanover was Devon Perdue with 2 with Michael Kritz and Brendan Clayton providing the assists.

Sunday night the Pee Wee’s travelled to Mildmay to face the hard skating Monarchs.  In the previous meeting at home the Falcons had lost 5-2 so there was some anticipation of quite a bit of hard work to remain competitive in the Mildmay team’s home rink.  Coach Kritz reset the lines for this match to see if it would bring some additional balance to the team.  Right from the warm-ups it looked like the Falcons were focused to give their all.   Early in the first period with no score Hanover was assessed a minor penalty.   Bailey Fidler and Michael Kritz were the forwards on the penalty kill and when Fidler caused a turnover in the neutral zone Kritz headed for the far blue line and called for the puck.  Fidler responded with a perfect pass and Kritz did not disappoint, splitting the defence and deaking the goalie low inside the post.   A few shifts latter it was defenseman Allie Leask carrying the puck over the blueline nice pass to the high slot to Perdue who found Riley Schaus just off the far post for the one time and it was 2 zip Hanover.   Mildmay would come back and tie the score with a deflection and a scramble play so game on again.   The Falcons kept pressing and with Schaus, Perdue and Clayton buzzing the net the puck finally found its way home on the rebound from Devon Perdue’s stick.   Then the Hanover lads were assessed a 4 minute penalty as their captain Colin Zettler was thought to be a bit aggressive on the physical side.   Tremendous penalty killing kept the Mildmay team from taking advantage and when Colin jumped back out of the penalty box he received a quick tip pass from Koebel and then blew by the defence and beat the Mildmay keeper with a backhander high to the glove side.    4-2 Falcons.  Mildmay would come back with 1 more but the Hanover Falcons pinned the Mildmay team in their own zone for the final 2 minutes and sealed the victory.   Although not everyone appeared on the score sheet the rest of the Falcons did great work in defending the net and keeping the Mildmay attackers to the outside for most of the game.  Kody Hammell was a wall in the net and took away any potential rebounds. The Mildmay keeper had to deal with a lot of rubber and played well against a determined Hanover offence.  An exciting game for all the fans.  Great Job Falcons.
