Falcons In Tough with Drayton
Submitted By Dan Bailey on Thu 12 30, 10
For the first time this season, the Canadian Tire PeeWees had the odds stacked against them before the drop of the puck.
Down to just 10 players, with offensive force, Dylan Frieburger having a broken arm, and speedster Austin Frook in Florida, the team faced off against the always strong, Drayton Defenders.
The missing links were apparent, as the Falcons gave their all, shift to shift, but found themselves coming just short on the battles for the puck. Shot after shot was stopped by Gregory Scales. The lanes were well clogged by the Falcons, but the force of the opponent was quite strong.
Period one finished with Drayton up by one.
Period two was a decent frame, but as the Falcons found a few penalties, and lost yet another player on a CFB call, Hanover was lucky to come out of frame 2, still at 1-0.
Dressing room talks, some corrective measures and suggestions were focused on to help the squad control the third period.
The Falcons charged on to the ice, and in what was their best period of the game, still came up short, as Drayton managed finish on a point shot and rebound, and then seal the deal on a crease scramble.
Hanover learned that positional play, solid effort and winning battles for the puck won the game for their opponent. The squad manages to hang on to second place in the league, but has some further challenging games ahead of them.
All healthy players should be back in the lineup by the 9th of January..... Let's go guys! Keep it rolling, and do whatever it takes to make it happen!
