Novice Home opener
Submitted By Nancy on Tuesday, November 06, 2018
Hanover Novice LL opened up the season this past weekend with two wins on home ice.

The first game was Sat Oct 20th against the Kincardine Bullshooters.  It was a battle between the two teams with both playing hard for the win.  Colton Messerschmidt scored two goals and Max Dietz scored one.  Hanover Falcons won their first game 3-2. The second game on Sun Oct 21 the Falcons dominated the Howick Hornets.  Hanover started off the period taking control of the puck however the Hornets intercepted a pass and carried it down hoping for a goal.  Brody Grinwis made a great save with Colton Messerschmidt taking the puck on a breakaway for Hanover’s first goal.  Colton managed another goal with Theron Bouchard and Ashton Luce making sure the puck stayed within Hanover possession.  Within a minute into the second period the Falcons scored another goal.   The Hornets finally managed to steal the puck and tried to get into the Falcon zone however Garyn Abell and Sophie MacMillan weren’t taking any of their stings.  Max Dietz got the puck and had a nice breakaway but the Hornet goalie had his game face on and made a save.  The Hornets tried their best to get through the Falcon line again but Kalliegh Carter fought hard for the puck while Wade Ford and Nathan Van Straten stood their grounds.  Colton squeezed a few more goals into the net to make the score 7-0. The last period the Falcons were all hands on deck by keeping the puck in the opponent zone!  Tyler Irwin and Theron Bouchard both tried hard to sneak one in however the Hornet goalie wasn’t letting it happen.  The Hornets tried hard to get a few goals in but failed with help to Garyn blocking a shot, Elliot Farley blocking one opponent which led to Max Dietz with another breakaway however the Hornet goalie made the save.   Brody Grinwis played an excellent game with some great saves giving himself his first shutout for the season! The next game for the Hanover Novice LL is Sat Nov 3 at 8:30am in Hanover against the Walkerton Capitals.
