Tuesday, August 21, 2012 Richmond Hill, ON: - The OMHA and Impact-Alert teamed up to support OMHA safety programs players with educational resources.
The Impact-Alert Sport-Tuned™ Sensor alerts the user when a long-duration significant impact has been sustained while participating in various sports. The sensors are designed to measure long-duration significant impacts while wearing the helmet. This "CSA certified" safety sensor is easy to use, affordable and reliable and is a useful tool for parents in determining if the protective value of a helmet may have been compromised after a significant impact.
“Participant safety is our number one priority. The Impact-Alert helmet sensor could be a useful tool for participants to use to determine a significant blow to the head,” stated OMHA Technical Director of Trainers Darryl Bossence. “We are extremely grateful for the support of Impact-Alert for this partnership.”
“This partnership shows the commitment we have to safety in sport and the OMHA is a leader in innovative sport safety programs. We are excited about the opportunity to make the game safer through further research, education and development of the OMHA safety program,” said Jim Blumsom, President of Impact-Alert Sport Systems.
OMHA and Impact-Alert will produce a hockey safety card that will be inserted into each Fall edition of Hometown Hockey magazine. Impact-Alert will also be present at selected OMHA events to discus hockey safety. A portion of proceeds of Impact-Alert sensor sales to OMHA members will be allocated into safety programming and research.
