Falcons Play In Huntsville Tournament
Submitted By Dan Teeple on Tuesday, November 15, 2011
The Schaus Masonry Atom Rep team hit the road last Friday morning heading north to take part in their first tournament of the year in Huntsville.

They played their first game against Temiskaming, a strong, very talented team and played well but just couldn't get much offence going. The team trailed 2-0 after 1 period and Temiskaming added 2 more goals in the second to give them a commanding lead heading into the third. The game ended in a 8-1 loss for the Falcons. Cam Rourke scored the lone goal on a blistering slap shot from the side boards assisted by Josh Lorenz and Nathan Oelschlagel.
After an evening of fun which included a team dinner at Kelsey's, swimming at the pool at the Best Western and a whole lot of team bonding and socializing that went into overtime, the team were set to play their second game of the tourney on Saturday afternoon against Parry Sound.
This was a game that was fairly evenly matched and entertaining right to the very end. Hanover opened the scoring just two and a half minutes into the game on a goal by Nate Johnston assisted by Keifer Teeple. Parry Sound scored to even up the match before the end of the first period and the score remained tied until the third period when the Falcons gave up another goal, making the final 2-1.
The third game of the tournament was played against Nobleking who was again were a strong, fast skating team.
The Falcons battled hard but the game ended in a 5-1 loss for the boys. Cam Rourke scored the only goal for the team.
The defence were kept busy all weekend and did a great job keeping the opposition to limited chances.
Caden Prues seen many shots and did a super job turning away many scoring opportunities from the other teams.
It was good for the team to get the chance to play some strong teams as it will surely give them a boost and get them going in the right direction as well.
A big thank you to our coaching staff, Chris Prues, Troy McDiarmid, Steve Johnston, Kevin and Nikki Freiburger for organizing a fun weekend and for your dedication and committment to the team.
