SCHAUS MASONRY ATOMS TIE, LOSE IN WEEKEND ACTION
Submitted By Dan Teeple on Monday, November 28, 2011
The Hanover Falcons Atoms were on the road Saturday Nov. 26 to take on the Goderich Pirates. This was the first meeting of the season between these two teams and they proved to be quite evenly matched.

The Falcons got off to a slow start and found themselves down by a score of 3-1 after two periods. Goderich scored another goal early in third to give them a 3 goal lead. The team did not give up, they kept working hard and were about to play their best period of hockey of the season. They battled back and scored three unanswered goals to tie the game which ended in a 4-4 draw. Goal scorers for the game were Cam Rourke with 2 while Nate Johnston and Josh Lorenz each had 1. Ryan Colquhoun had 2 assists while single assists went to Kyle Hamel, Nathan Oelschlagel, Keifer Teeple, Lorenz and Johnston. On Sunday Nov. 27, the Falcons traveled to Listowel to play the first place Cyclones. The game started off as a defensive battle as neither team wanted to make a mistake to give up the first goal of the game. Hanover ran into some penalty trouble midway through the first period that lead to 2 power play goals for Listowel. The Falcons played great defensive hockey and got stronger as the game went on. Caden Prues was in net and made some dazzling saves to keep his team in the game. Brody Weber, Nathan Oelschlagel, Braydon McDiarmid and Tyler Freiburger played some great defensive hockey keeping the Cyclone snipers to limited chances. The game ended in a 5-2 loss for the boys which really was a respectable score against a strong team. Scoring for the Falcons were Cam Rourke and Dale Leroux with single assists going to Josh Lorenz and McDiarmid. The team will be playing in the Wingham Silver Stick tournament starting on Dec.4 when they will play their first game against Mitchell. Good luck boys.
