Novice Rep - WOAA Consolation Champions!
Submitted By adam stanley on Monday, March 24, 2014
The Hanover Novice Rep Falcons finished their season with a 2-1 OT victory in Walkerton, against the Walkerton Capitals. It was their 3rd win in the best of 5 WOAA - Hodges Consolation Final.

The final game opened with Walkerton drawing first blood in the 1st period.  The Falcons fought back in the 2nd period with Connor Paige netting a beauty after walking out of the far corner.  Goaltender Nick Kieswetter put up the brick wall and kept the puck hungry Capitals at bay.

Hanover stormed the Walkerton net, with Dylan Becker, Sheldon Driscoll and Aiden Stanley nearly notching the go ahead marker, but Walkerton countered with strong goaltending.  Zack Mcdiarmid led a charge up centre ice after a pass from his defence partner Jacob Schade, but again the Walkerton team continued to show strong defence.  The two teams continued to battle hard.

Late in the 3rd Brody Aljoe stormed the left wing, putting the puck deep in Walkerton's end.  Owen Tilker dangled around the Caps defence sliding the puck just wide of the goal.

Luka Abell and  Spencer Graham held the line, while call-up player Brayden Macintosh crashed the net.  It was intense, action packed hockey.  The buzzer sounded at the end of the 3rd with the game tied 1-1.  This was a game of inches and the victor would have to prevail in sudden death overtime.

In the first shift of OT, the Hanover Falcons moved the puck deep into Walkerton's end, forcing a face-off right of the Walkerton goalie.  On came the Falcons next line.  The clock chewed away the seconds and the puck reached the neutral zone where Owen Tilker forced a turnover.  Connor Paige flew up the centre and weaved around the Walkerton defence all alone, with a beauty wristor, he found his mark past the Walkerton goaltender's blocker in the top corner of the net.
The Hanover crowd erupted and all the player's stormed onto the ice.  Coach Andrew Tilker said it all when he asked his squad, "It feels good to win the last game of the season doesn't it?".............You Bet!

From all the parents on the Novice Rep team we would like to tell our boys how proud we are of them.  We would also like to thank their coaches Andrew Tilker, Jason Paige and Brad Becker for leading by example and showing them how to play hard and with class.  Thanks to their trainer Glen Graham for being there when they were down.......literally.

Great job Hanover Novice Rep Falcons!!!!!!
