Hanover Minor Hockey Association Canadian Tire Cup Novice Tournament Rules-Saturday, February 1st, 2020

1.           All teams must report to the Tournament Coordinator to Sign-In at least 45 minutes prior to their first game, Managers/Coaches will be required to fill in tournament game sheets 30 Min. prior to game time.  All AP players should be noted with “AP” beside there name on the game sheet.  Players not indicated on the game sheet at the start of the game, will be eligible to play that game.

 

2.           Teams must be prepared to on the 30 minutes prior to scheduled start times.

 

3.           Team must be read to go on the ice immediately after the preceding game even if it finishes early.

 

4.           Flood at the end of every game.  Except for Midget game which there is a flood every two periods.  (Unless time constraints occur) for all age groups.

 

5.           There will be a (3) minute warm-up period.

 

6.           OMHA rules shall apply, including coach & trainer certification, and suspensions.

 

7.           For the Novice Tournament the game will consist of (3) 10-10-10 minute periods.

 

8.           Ties will be broken in all games, semi final and championship games.  Overtime will be as follows:

-One 5 min, 4 on 4 sudden victory period will be played.

-If no goal is scored in the first 5 minutes, then a 5 player shootout will occur, with shooters going at the same.

-First five shooters must be listed on the game sheet prior to the start of the game in order with a number beside their name.  If one of those players is not eligible for the shootout due to injury, penalty or ejection a replacement shooter will be chosen.

-Any player serving a penalty at the end of overtime will not be eligible for the shoot out.

-If still tied after the 5 shooters the 3 shooters will be selected.  This is sudden victory.  Shooters must be different than first 5 shooters.

-Teams are not allowed to reuse shooters until the entire roster has been completed.

 

9.           Tournament Coordinator will invoke a mercy rule at any time during the 3rd Period when a team is ahead by 5 goals.   The referee will inform each coach that the remainder of regulation time will be played in straight time until the goal differential is less than 3 goals.

 

10.         Any player receiving a gross misconduct, match or a checking from behind penalty will be suspended for the remainder of the tournament.

 

11.          There will be on 30 second timeout allowed in all Semi-Final and Final games.

 

12.         In the case of confliction sweaters.  The home team will change.

 

13.         The home team will be listed first on the official tournament schedule.

 

14.         The Tournament Coordinator will final say concerning eligibility of player and applicability of tournament rules should a dispute arise.

 

15.         All protests must be brought to Tournament Coordinator within 30 minutes of game ending.  Each team is guaranteed (2) tournament games.

 

THE TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE RESERVES THE RIGHT TO MAKE ALL DECISIONS REGARDING INTERPRETATION OF THE TOURNAMENT RULES, OBJECTIONS OR PROTESTS.  ALL DECISIONS MADE BY THE TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE WILL BE FINAL.
